In the present era, all countries, including developed countries, are facing common wealth problems. Mostly underdeveloped countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, etc are working on long-term plans to control & minimize the expenses of their country, and working to enhance the economy through the broad way, cooperation with other countries, improving foreign policies, and establishing social justice and maintaining human rights in the country. Despite the regular follow-up and vision of the government administration, the issue of the commonwealth is still facing various problems and challenges
One of the main and top problems of the countries is the instability of the economy, less the underdeveloped countries like the UK, Australia, Russia, etc. African countries, including Asia and many other countries, are facing poverty and low economies. Exports/imports and limitation of trade with other countries due to no financial support.
We must mention the following issues:
- National disaster/climate change.
- Corruption.
- Political issues and instability.
- Human rights and social injustice.
- Illiteracy.
National Disaster/Environment Change
Environmental change is a serious issue in the world, including in China and Pakistan, in a simple word we may define environmental change as a change in temperature, or a drop in rainfall after a long time. Main causes of climate change? due to the release of worldwide fossil fuels, oil, coal, and 90% carbon dioxide resulting earth being covered with gases, gases trap sunlight, which is the main cause of climate change, On the other hand limited sources of the countries, which could not control the national disaster. Some countries have trained Armies to control national disaster management and employ the army in affected areas for early first aid, recovery, transport the people to safe locations and providing the necessary items, like food, tents, clothes, etc. Meanwhile, climate change is also affects the common wealth issues of the countries.
Corruption
Most of the countries are facing corruption issues. Corruption is a major concern due to weak governance of the department and country. Mostly has been observed that in African and Asian countries employees, police, etc including the head of the department of the govt are not working without demanding rewards in the shape of corruption being a right. To minimize and control corruption, reforms are necessary by all political parties. If countries cannot control corruption, so common issues will not be reduced.
Political Issues/Instability
Democracy is not implemented in true letter and spirit; in most Asian countries, it has been seen that constitutional governments could not complete their tenure causing dissolution the assemblies. No government is elected through voting/ election, mostly are selected with the support and political influence of foreign think tanks, involving the devolved countries as well as the backup power of militaries. Political parties of the countries are not one page to control and promote the country’s economy due to their interests. The selected government does not exercise security and enforcement and also fails to provide basic necessities as per the constitution.
Human Rights and Social Injustice
According to the constitution, the government does not implement fundamental rights i.e. freedom of speech, security, security of business, the casting of votes, education regardless of race, religion, nationality, or any other background. Courts of the countries are not deciding cases on merits and not implementing the court’s orders by Police and administration. However, international organizations is working with the countries to support and reduce social injustice and human rights violations, but more work is required to be done.
Illiteracy
Education of every citizen is a fundamental right up to graduation, which is not implemented as well, mostly in some countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh, which have separate education systems for elite people and common nation which causes injustice for employment. Some major causes are touched on here.
- Insufficient schools/buildings in rural areas.
- Unqualified teacher/trainer.
The curriculum is not up to the mark as compared to the developed countries.
Conclusion
To cater to the commonwealth issues, the government may consider and focus strongly on climate change, control of corruption, political issues and instability, human rights, social injustice, and promoting democracy by adopting challenges. The government/nation must work together for education reforms and development. The accountability of every department/employee and violation of law and order must be ensured by the government. Empowerment of the constitution, as no one is superior to the constitution. Countries may work on the guidelines and patterns of developed countries. Exports/imports and limitations of trade may be reconsidered and enhanced.
